I have this problem of error code: "1801 microcode update error" on Hp dc 5000 SFF (PH884 PA). I change the processor and restart the machine without this error displaying again. This gave me the opportunity to boot the system with the installation disk of Windows Xp sp 2. The system files were copied successfully. Unfortunately the system could not continue from the hard disk after the restart at which it supose to continue the installation. The system restarts and stops at "Press any key to boot from Cd".
My question is, "What can I do to continue the installation from where it stop to proceed further"? My second question is "How can the BIOS be updated when the operating system has not been completed and fully functional. I am asking this question because I read in one of the post that one should download an updated version of the bios to cure the error code referred to in this post.
