Greetings, Paul!
On the subject of HP dc7700 CMT Driver 'corruption'; I have a problem with my (dc7700) TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223B with SB01 Firmware. I tried to use a Seagate USB Backup Drive, and my computer assaigned it the same Drive letter as my DVD Writer. On My Computer; the Drive (F:) had the DVD player and the Seagate USB drive both listed after Drive (F:). I unplugged the Seagate from the USB, re-booted, went into F10 Setup and everything 'appeared' "O.K.". Booting windows and checking the status of my DVD writer - "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)". I tried clearing CMOS, with a fresh system, and still had the problem. The Device ID is:
IDE\CDROMTSSTCORP_CDDVDW_SH-S223B_______________SB01____________
\51303332354E373639384C4B4E4D504F20202020
I sure would appreciate your help in solving my 'corrupt' or 'missing' driver (code 39) - whatever that means - the system is still running Windows XP Professional, and all other devices listed under "System" - "Hardware" - weren't affected; just the DVD!
Kind Regards! -Jeff
