Hi, I own a 3-4 years old HP 6000 Pro SFF with a decent 2.8 Ghz C2D CPU and I'm wondering if the built-in SATA controller will support a Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD which are part of the new "4K Advanced Drive Format" or is it only a sofware compatibility question? The desktop is running Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1 with all lastest updates btw.
I'm wondering if my HP desktop will support this drive because I have tested a few of this HDD model (ST3000D001) and there are pretty hard to fit inside anything because of the drive size/format. I tried several external exclosures and several 6-7 years old PCs and they are never recongnized. They apear as two separate physical drives in the disk manager and they are impossible to initialize or format.
I wanted to add this 3TB HDD inside my 6000 PRO as slave HDD (in the bay under optical drive) in addition to the factory 250 Gb HDD which is the system drive. I'm actually build-in like a home media storage PC.
Because my PC is recently out-of-warranty I can't reach HP technical support to ask them about this question...
Thank you very much.
