Re: Enabling Wake-On-Lan on 8300 Elite SFF en masse through script

Hi everybody,

I think, in this case above is big mistake!

1: Power >> Hardware Power Management >> Enable "S5 Maximum Power Saving"

S5 Maximum Power Saving - must be disabled!

2: Advanced >> Power-On Options >> Change "Remote Wake up Boot source" to "Remote Server"

OK

3: Please check your network adapter settings in Windows!

Local Area Connection > Click the Properties button > Configure button > Power Management:

WoL.jpg

This the only correctly way, how to wake your PC from LAN and worked for me OK.

If you have security settings on your switch, please check if WoL work correctly. In my case, I had some trouble with RADIUS security settings.

Best regards

Fan speed. no control in bios

OK

I had a stock 500B MT with a stock Celeron 3300 in there. (800 bus)

I modded a XEON L5420 and put it in there.

Yes I know about warranty violation and unsupported cpu's running at 1333. But it does actually work .... and works fine.

The 771 to 775 mod has worked in a few of my G41 and G45 chipsets without any hitches.

Next.

I have a Corsair 450w psu and a GTX 560Ti in that little case as well. Along with an extra 120mm case fan.

None of the above is the problem.

The problem arises with the cpu fan speed, when adding a 1333 processor.

The Celeron 3300 (800) works ok

A Core 2 Duo E6320 (1066) is fine

Add a 1333 processor (E8400 and a X5450 tried also) and the fan is like a Boeing 747

Switch back to the lesser bus speed cpu's and the fan is low once more

In the bios there is absolutely no option for fan control, even though the heatsink fan is pwm.

I have resorted to taking off the fan and adding the fan from a Arctic Freezer Pro 7. Less noisy.

Is there an option , at all, to change fan speed in the bios. or is there an old bios with fan speed in it?

Or, as I have been told, there maybe  a hidden option in the bios

Thanks

By the way:

On the latest 6.05 rev A bios

I have a d530CMT with the following configuration

CPU: Pentium IV HT CPU 3,2 GHz/1M/800 (Prescott)

Heatsink: Scythe Samurai with a Delta AFB0912VHE fan

RAM: 4x1 GB PC3200 KTH-d530/1G RAM modules

GFX: Radeon HD3850 AGP

S-ATA DVD-RW

120 GB S-ATA SSD with XP Pro

HP Z400 475W power supply (the stock PSU is too weak)

I also tried the 3,4 GHz Prescott but unfortunately there is no microcode update.

You really need to replace the stock heatsink cause it's unable to keep the Prescott cool (even those Northwood chips can get pretty hot).

I hope this helps a bit

No option available in bios to set first boot device to "M.2 PCIe".

Did someone have any clue?

Thank you.

Won't boot with 8GB RAM

I have a HP/Compaq dc7800p small form factor PC.  I am trying to upgrade the RAM to 8GB.  I have the correct kind of RAM (it is Samsung and matched set of 4 x 2GB).  When I fill all 4 slots, I can't get the PC to boot.  It just sits there for 30 sec, and then the system fan goes into overdrive.  I have tried every possible permutation of putting the modules in the slots, but the most the machine will let me add is 6GB.  I know the primary slot has to be filled, but I can't figure out what is the problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Memory Upgrade - HP PRO 3120MT

Goodafternoon everyone,

One of my clients wants to get an memoryupgrade for  their HP Pro 3120 MT Business model.

I've search far and wide for compatible RAM but I cannot find any definitive answers,

the default RAM isnt being sold anymore, (except for refurbished suppliers, but I'd rather get a new stick).

Default ram = 497157-D01

Is there a list with compatible memorysticks for this machine?

PCI-e cards not detected in ProDesk 600 G1

We recently received a new piece of production equipment that included an HP ProDesk 600 G1 WIN7 Home Premium 64-bit PC.  The manufacturer assures me that the PC is unchanged for their purpose other than the install of their controller software and a static IP assigned to the onboard NIC which is used to communicate with their equipments controller board.

I'm trying to install a PCI-e x1 NIC into this PC for connection to our network.  For some reason the card is not being detected by the WIN7 OS.  I've tried all three PCI-e slots on this computer, reset the bios to factory defaults (in case something was changed) and tried multiple cards, all with the same result.  I've also checked the cards in other PC's and they are detected normally and I'm prompted to install the driver.

When a cable is plugged into the NIC the indicators on the back show activity but there is nothing showing for the 2nd NIC in Device Manager or Adapters in Network and Sharing Center.

Is there some obscure setting in the bios that I'm not seeing that disables hardware detection?  Has anyone ever run into a similar case before?

Hi K2D2,

This is a peer to peer forum, not an official HP support site. Have you tried contacting HP Support Center?

I was able to make this work for me using an OWC Multi-Mount and just removing the black rubber pins that made it work for a 5.25 mount.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1K62FN7596

Since the HDD attaches to the Pro 3500 case using the screwholes on the bottom of the 3.5 HDD, the SSD just piggybacks on it, vertically mounted like the other HDD.

I'm actually surprised that nobody has made a product that does this for vertically mounted HDDs in OEM cases yet.

But then again, I'm the crazy fool running a HyperV server on a Pro 3500 with a pentium processor and needed an SSD and a 4TB HDD.

HP 3400 MT and Nvidia GT730 Not Working

$

Hi Guys,

I am having issues with a Nvidia GT730 Graphics card.

I am trying the card in both a HP pro 3400 MicroTower and a HP Pro 3300 SFF and both result in the splash screen for HP being shown including the ability to press esc, but progresses no further. Strangely though if I leave it the splash screen still shows but the occasional beeps occur as though the machine is actually booting.
When pressing esc nothing happens, unless I press it immediately in which case it say entering setup (for exampel) and progresses no further.
Using CTRL+ALT+Delete I can reboot from the splash screen.

If I have the card installed and plug the VGA into the onboard instead ie no cables in the 730, I get 6 beeps and then nothing, no splash screen etc.

Without the card the machine boots normally.

I have booted via onboard and installed the drivers etc.

Both machines have bios version 7.11, I have searched for an update on the official drivers page with no joy.

Many people suggest disabling secure boot and enabling legacy control, but within the security options of the Bios, I am missing the last option which contains these options.

The 3400 has a 103Watt PSU from the label and the 3300 220Watt. I have tried the 220Watt PSU in the 3400 just in case this was power related. Also if this is of any interest the machine is a 64Bit Windows 7 Pro 4Gb Ram.

I am unsure on how to proceed and can only conclude that maybe I need bios version 8 to get these options accessible. I have installed the official bios update from the support page but this is 7.11 so no change was made. I am thinking of getting 8 and trying to use this as well as trying a higher power supply ie 600Watts. But these are the two options I am left with to try. Does anyone have any other suggestions.

HP 6200 PRO SFF How to disable Error message 917/918 Front Audio connector not connected

$

Dear HP Forum users,

I work at schools and at some of these schools in some classrooms we use HP 6200 PRO SFF machines.

Now the following problem has arisen.

When students want to have audio using an HP 6200 PRO SFF machine they use the front audio connector
to plug in their 3.5 jack headphones or 3.5 jack ear plugs.  The problem is that we have some really
disrespectfull students that do anything to break stuff and that is what has happened to one of the HP 6200 PRO SFF machines.

What a student has done is break off the 3.5 jack connector in the front audio port.  When this happens windows thinks there is an audio device plugged in.   After this you can't use any other audio ports on the computer, not in the front, not in the back because again windows thinks that there is already an other audio device plugged in.

To solve this problem you can unplug the front audio connector from the motherboard.  After you do this you can use the rear audio connector.  But after unplugging the front audio connector from the motherboard you get the following error message :  Error 917 Front audio not connected.   After getting this error you can press F1 and the computer boots up like it normally should but you must always press F1 otherwise it just wont boot up.

I have tried many many things to get rid of this Error 917 message but no luck.  I have tried to disable this error in the BIOS but I can't find any option in the BIOS to do this.  I have tried other options found googling online but no luck, also called the HP Support line but this was really no help either....  the support person said either disable it in the BIOS which I can't do or buy a new FRONT audio connector which costs a whopping 100+ Euros.

Sooo my question for you all is as follows :   How can I disable / get rid of this Error 917 message without replacing the FRONT Audio connector???

Awaiting your response.

Greetings

Davidargai
