Re: HP DC5000 processor fan runs at a very high speed

I just brought one of these computer used for $20, it had the same problem the CPU fan would roar after just a minute of two once booted. No doubt this is why someone donated to the charity store where I brought it.

The problem with it was the CPU heat sink was clogged with dust once I clean this out and the rest of the cabinet with compress air it reduced the fan noise by about 90%. Be careful taking the heat sink off the CPU it is delicate.

Hi:

Please refer to page 306 of the service manual at the link below.

You'll just have to look around until you find a green jumper on the motherboard.

They are in different locations based on the model.  Normally they are in the vicinity of the coin cell battery toward the edge of the motherboard.

http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c03612798-1.pdf

If following the procedure of removing the jumper does not clear the BIOS password, then stringent security was set and unless you can find someone that knows the password, you will never be able to clear it.

3 monitors HP Compaq 6005 Pro Small Form Factor (enable on board card?)

Hi, I want to know how to connect 3 monitors to my PC, I currently have two screens with an Nvidia video card and it runs great, is there a way to activate the onboard card to hook the third monitor? If so, how?

This is what I have tried.

BIOS Setup > Advanced > Device Options, but there is no "Integrated Video" option to choose

All I see is:

> Printer Mode

> Num Lock State

> S5 Wake on LAN

> Processor Cache

> Multi Processor

> Internet Speaker

> NIC PXE Option ROM Download

> HPET

Thanks in advance!

Compaq 6200 Pro CPU Upgrade

I bought Core i3-3220 (Ivy Bridge) CPU and install it instead of Celeron G530. Computer doesn't boot, POST indicator shows 55h code. It seems like BIOS can't initialize memory controller.

Does Compaq 6200 support Ivy Bridge processor? I update BIOS to latest version (J01-2.24) but it doesn't help.

HI there, you need to get 2 pci cards with dvi ports, or find a video card with 3 dvi ports, if you want to use 2 video cards with dvi ports you will need 1 dvi spliter and for the other card just dvi cable.

You're very welcome, Hans.

See if running the automatic driver update from the device in the device manager works.

You would need to be connected to the internet so W7 can access the windows update site.

You don't need that device if you are using the PC for home use.

There may also be an issue about something not being configured correctly for the device in the BIOS.

Please see this related post.

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-PCs-Compaq-Elite-Pro/DC7800-Yellow-Exclamation-on-Intel-Management-Engine-Interface/m-p/2302818/highlight/true#M82236

It is very complicated to fix, and maybe it can't be fixed.

Best Regards,

Paul

We had same problem.

Run "msconfig" command and in "Programs" tab disable x86 program. CTRL+F2 should work after that.

Hi Paul,

I think you are right in suggsting to leave it as it is.

I have removed the faulty driver, and now the device, what ever it is, does not even show any more.

So no more yellow qustion marks in the device manager.

From the other post it indeed shows that the issue is very dfficult th solve, if at all...

Thanks again for your help and patience.

Regards, Hans.

Activate Windows 8 / 8.1 on Elite 8300

Hi.

I have an Elite 8300 (A2K87ET) which comes with a Win8 sticker on it. Already downgraded to Windows 7 from HP. I have both the Win7 and Win8 recovery disks.

We want to install a SSD-drive in the computer, and the recovery DVD for Win 8 will not work because the SSD-drive (120GB) is much smaller than the 500GB that is shipped with the computer. So it cannot partition the drive etc.

I used the Win8 recovery disks that came with the computer, and extracted the product-key after the successful recovery on the original 500GB HDD.

I have access to a Windows 8.1 Pro OEM disk purchased from Microsoft, but the key i extracted from the 8300 does not work. I have also tried the ABR tool, but it doesn't work either.

Any idea how to get this computer activated on Windows 8.1?

Thanks, Ingve.

Hi, Hans:

That is good news.

Whatever you did must have installed the right driver.

You should see the device listed if you look in the System Devices category, where you should see the Intel Management Engine Device listed, and happily working.

Best Regards,

Paul
