Re: BiosConfigUtility BOOT ORder issues.

Did you end up getting anywhere with this one? I am having the same issue.

You can re-order the main options like NIC, HDD, CD/DVD, etc. But the problem I am having is that USB and HDD are both under the HDD category and you can't re-order it to boot off HDD first then USB using the BIOS Config Utility

We are looking at trying to fix this on a fleet of PCs and manually going into the BIOS is not an option

dc7800 only works with ddr 667 memory, but not 800?

Hi, I have an HP DC7800 and according to HP, I can use DDR2 800, PC2 6400. I have tried 1 GB sticks of Crucial memory, and they don't work, I get the 5 beeps signifying bad or incorrect memory. I tried a 1 GB stick of Crucial DDR 667 and it works fine. Any ideas why the 800 will not work? I double checked just to make sure and the HP quick specs say that the 800 will work fine.

Thanks

If this is in reply to my Blue screen I don't see the connection.  I have a 8100 Elite not a 7800.  Maybe I am confused though.

Hello!

Ditto. 5 beeps, reseated RAM, all better now.

Only reseat a CPU as an absolute LAST resort. If you ARE going to reseat the CPU, better have some Arctic Silver on hand...

Hello HP,

This is a open letter to you:

I went to Reliance digital in May, 2014 to buy to TAB with a mind of Apple but when I reached there I saw OMNI 10 TAB and suddenly what happened I changed my mind with a thought that HP is a good brand and I have never used HP and should have try and bought OMNI 10 tab. With in 2 months, tab started creating problems and after so much harassment and efforts you provide me a replacement. But masha-allah what a fraud company you are that replaced tab also started problems and I have submitted it to SVC, Noida Wave City, Sect-16.

Now, tell me one thing, do you take care about your after sales service or just you want to spend on Marketing on your products. I would like to advice you here that you could have signed any big name for your advertisement but did you ever advertise about your worst products and your worst customer experience.

I wish here to urge everybody not to use HP products as they are not upto the mark and even their after sale service is worst than ever. They even don't care about the customer problem.

I had submitted the same to your SVC and I'll not accept the replacement and repair now. What I need is now refund only. If you are unable to do the same then you can keep this with you a christmas gift from my side.

I would like to ask to Deepika Padukone also, did you ever analyze the product. We request you to please don't do ads just for money.

You should be banned from India and definitely I'll go to consumer court and also going to start a twitter #trend against you so that everyone could be aware against your fraud.

If you are little bit serious then do a quick, serious and concrete action else will meet in consumer court.

Re: HP OEM OS and SCCM 2012

Hi Ajaha

I went through the same question a year ago.  The Windows 8 license is built into the machine BIOS, so the OS (Windows 8 Pro / 8.1 Pro) will "auto-license" itself from there. I have HP OEM Win 8.1 installing from SCCM 2012 R2 with no licensing issues.

If you want to use Windows 7, you'll need to retrieve the key from one of the machines (they'll all be activated with the same OEM key from HP) with a tool like ABR (http://directedge.us/content/abr-activation-backup-and-restore) before you overwrite the HP image.  Save this somewhere, then you can restore the OEM key to the PCs once the OS is installed.  I've done this successfully as well.

Hope this helps you out.

David,

I also have an HP DC5700 and would like to change teh video card using the PCIE port. How do I change the bios to allow the video card to be recongnized? Or will it be recongnized automatically like the newer motherboards do?

HP DX2450 AMD Phenom Triple Core 2,3 GHz,4GB Ram,250GB

Hi all, I'm a newbie to HP and to desktop PC's in general, having always used laptops. I recently bought a used HP DX2450 AMD Phenom Triple Core 2,3 GHz,4GB Ram,250GB micro tower for home use and home studio music production. I know you are probably thinking "that will never work for music production", and you're absolutely right. But I was on a very tight budget when I bought it (..and still am!!).

Now I want to upgrade my music studio with a midi controller and will need a more powerful CPU. So I was wondering which of the latest HP CPUs will be compatible with my old micro tower, or will I have to find an old ex-stock or used AMD Phenom Quad core to improve my PC's performance? This may sound like a dumb question, but like I said, the world of desktops is an alien world to me. Many thanks.

ProDesk 600 adding serial card

We have several new ProDesk 600 G1's with Windows 7.

I  am trying to add a StarTech 2 port PCI Express RS232 serial card but Windows does not see the card.

Is there somthing in the BIOS I need to change to get it to see the new hardware?

Cannot Flash BIOS on ANY HP Hardware 0xF0 (FLASH_FAILED)

I have tried various different BIOS versions for a dc7800, Z420, 800 G1, 8200 Elite and all fail with the error:

An unrecoverable error has occurred while flashing the BIOS.

Error code = 0xF0 (FLASH_FAILED)

That error is completely useless in diagnosing the root cause. I expect better error reporting from a business like HP, it doesnt even say whether its a write fail or a crc fail.

Ironically, I DID manage to flash the BIOS on the 8200 (to version available on website only, not on SDM) and after the 'successful' flash, the device refused to boot from any USB devices from that point forward so it needs RMA'ing so i am suspicious that it did not flash successfully.

Has anyone got any ideas?  It is presumably something in our environment, but I have nothing to go on at this point.  I does not appear to be due to the Password.bin becaues when i deliberately get that wrong i get a different error.

AJ>   Why not go to the time and the trouble to create an SCCM Task Sequence (like SCMC is designed for) with only what you want in it and exclude all the guff that comes with a factory image?  You will learn a lot in the process and produce a much cleaner build, resulting in much easier support as you will be working with a known quantity?

This is a much better long term solution than capturing an existing image for duplication. For instance when a new OS comes along, you just modify that step in the task sequence, a new pre-req or a new Adobe Reader version is released, you simply update that component.

You can export and import the task sequence and over time you will have a highly powerful and versatile template. Task Sequences also allow for actions based on queries of anything that exists in WMI or hardware settings or other environment variables.

Hi Mike

The question was around licensing if you want to use the Windows OEM version that comes with the machine, and this is now built in to the machines for Windows 8 onwards.  That means that you don't need to include a license in the task sequence.

I believe AJ wasn't meaning to image the build that comes from HP, but using the Win 8.1 media that comes with the machine to create a clean image to "exclude all the guff" as you put it.

Cheers

Andrew
